Mares

Meet the mares of Rockin D Ranch

We feel more often than not to produce great foals, you must start with the mare.
85% of a foal's traits are passed on from mare to foal.  With that being said we make sure to breed only the best of our mares, to stallions that are hand picked to help enhance what we already love about our mares.

Gunplay Gota Sue

Docs Gunplay x Muleshoe Mo Cow Cuta

This gorgeous gray mare does it all. Older cutting bloodlines (Playgun on top and Chex Rey, as well as Doc Clabber on bottom) Sissy is well versed in many events. She will work a cow, team sorting, head and heel horse, as well as a great kid horse she is one of a kind and worth her weight in gold.

Thornalena

CJ Sugar Lena x Lena Thorn

Big Lena, meet her one time and you'll fall in love with her. She sweet, athletic, and crazy good at her job. She has won over $100,000 in the roping pen competing in Vegas as a head horse. When she sustained an injury she was retired from the head side and let out to pasture to rest and produce a baby. She was brought back as a head and heel horse, when we bought her. She is currently in foal to Rocky Mountain Blues.

Kats Smokin Jess (SOLD)

Kats Frosty Jess x High Hatted

Jess, is the youngest, newest addition to our mare band. She is a big stocky well put together filly with the sweetest most laid back personality. She has already been shown in SHOT classes as well as she has competed and pulled checks at multiple ranch sortings. She has been brought on as a head horse prospect and will be competing in the WRC challenges in 2023.

Little Aristolena (Sold)

Smart Aristocrat x Playing Lena

Little Aristolena is the very first brood mare we purchased. She was bought due to her outstanding pedigree and her kind nature. She is a finished cutter and was shown in a small Missouri futurity as a three year old. She made it to the final round, however placed outside the money. She was than sold and turned into a brood mare on a ranch here in Texas until we bought her in 2013. We used her for a few years and than made the decision to breed her. She has been and continues to be an outstanding brood mare for us.

Swen Penny Lynx

Peptos Dancer Lena x Swen Red Lynx

Kitty is a 14.1 hand tall liver chestnut mare that was originally owned by a dear friend that had every intention of showing her in the NRCHA Futurity, however life happens, she was put on the back burner. We were offered a chance to come look at her (I'd been trying to buy her for a few years at this point) and Kelsey fell in love with her right away. After he stepped off her (after sliding several feet on her and doing plenty of spins) he was grinning ear to ear and said let's load her up. Kitty's future looks bright as she will continue her training to become a new heel horse for Kelsey and she will be shown in RHAA by myself and Madison will be showing her in the WRC shows.
